Ballyshannon native Gary Ward signed in the summer of 2008 from Letterbarrow Celtic to provide needed competition for the goalkeeping position. The stopper has been in excellent form this season, and had notched up a number of clean sheets. Gary became a regular custodian for Copany and a vital reason for the promotion winning Copany side of 08/09.
Indeed his importance to the promotion side of 08/09 was highlighted at the Club Presentation Night, where he scooped the Player of the Year award as well as the Players' Player of the Year award.
