FAI Umbro Junior Cup
13/10/07 @ 2:00PM -- Kilmacrennan Celtic 6-3 Copany Rovers -- Paul Clarke (34, 44), David Graham (40) -- Venue: Letterkenny Community Center

Young striker David Graham grabbed his first goal on his first start for Copany and Paul Clarke grabbed another two to take his seasonal tally to 10, but Copany were still unable to stop a strong Kilmacrennan side from victory in the FAI Umbro Junior Cup.

In a game of few clear cut chances early on, it was was sparked into life with an incredible six goals in ten minutes before half time.

Kilmacrennan opened the scoring on 24 minutes, when a long diagonal ball was played into the Copany defense and a Kilmacrennan player was first to react to prod the ball in from six yards.

Copany upped their game and equalised on 34 minutes, when Raymond Forde, making his first appearance of the season, broke from deep inside his own half and played through Paul Clarke, who took one touch to control the ball before firing home from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of the net.

Kilmacrennan retook the lead immediately after the restart when Copany failed to clear their lines from a corner, and soon after went two goals ahead when Joe Gallagher let a long range strike slide under his body and into the net.

Copany battled back once again when a Darryl Duncan corner was met by the head of James Walsh, who was captain for the day. The header was well parried by the keeper, but David Graham was on hand to fire home from close range.

Paul Clarke made it 3-3 a minute before half time when he conrolled a long ball with his head before unleashing an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner of the net.

However, on the stroke of half time Kilmacrennan retook the lead for a third and final time when a clever run down the left flank was met by a Kilmacrennan striker to net home from close range.

Kilmacrennan scored two goals in the second half but Copany can be pleased with their fighting qualities and the final scorline flattered the home side a bit.

Paul Clarke played the lone frontman role very effectively and was a constant thorn in the Kilmacrennan defense all day.
