Copany played their final preseason friendly against Cappry Rovers before the league opener against Letterbarrow. The managers used this match to give a number of fringe players an outing to allow them a chance to force their way into the managers plans.
Copany opened the scoring on fifteen minutes, when Darryl Duncan fired home from close range after the keeper could only parry Eoghan Gormans effort. Cappry drew level soon after but Paul McGroary put Copany back into the lead when he chipped the keeper with a neat finish from the edge of the box. Goalkeeper Joe Gallagher put Copany 3-1 up from his own area when his long clearence deceived the opposition 'keeper. The ball bounced over his Cappry goalkeeper's head and into the net. Cappry pulled a goal back before half time to leave the scoring at 3-2 to Copany.
Cappry equalised soon after the restart before Ted Bustard scored for Copany with a screamer from just inside the Cappry half. His long range effort just dipped under the crossbar. Cappry scored twice after this to secure a 5-4 victory.
