14/08/07 :: Friendly :: Copany Rovers 3-0 Donegal Town
Friendly 14/08/07 @ 7:30PM -- Copany Rovers 3-0 Donegal Town -- Paul Clarke (32, 60), Conal Rooney (43) -- Venue: Killowen Park
The Cobra's picked up their first preseason win on their final match before the Brian McCormick Sports Cup season opener on Sunday. Copany's three goal victory over Donegal Town will have boosted spirits and player fitness before the Letterbarrow away match.
Copany opened the scoring after 32 minutes when Aaron Scott played a clever through ball for Paul Clarke, who controlled the ball before firing past the 'keeper. Copany suffered some injury worries before the half hour mark, when both Graham Anderson and Owen Gorman were taken off, although both appear to have been precautionary. Conal Rooney, on as a sub as early as the twentieth minute, scored Copany's second on 43 minutes. A William Given free kick from just inside the Donegal half found Aaron Scott, who got his second assist when he found Rooney, who made no mistake.
Paul Clarke grabbed his second goal of the night, and his third in preseason, when he broke clear from half way and nutmegged the 'keeper to score an excellent goal on the break.
Next up is the Brian McCormick Sports Cup match away to Letterbarrow Celtic on Sunday, with the winners to face St. Catherines the following Wednesday.
