Friendly 01/08/07 @ 7:30PM -- Copany Rovers 2-3 Dunkineely Celtic -- Paul Clarke (53), Mark McCrea (76) -- Venue: Killowen Park
Copany played their first preseason friendly against Premier Division Champions, Dunkineely Celtic, at home and lost narrowly by the odd goal in five.
Thomas Given went close to opening the scoring when his rasping shot from the edge of the area was turned onto the post by the Dunkineely 'keeper. Dunkineely then hit the woodwork themselves on two occasions before Thomas Given had a goal ruled out after a neat through ball by Graham Anderson. Dunkineely later had an effort which Ted Bustard managed to clear off the line, leaving the scoring goalless at half time.
Paul Clarke opened the scoring for Copany soon after the restart when, after being put through by Aaron Scott, Clarke's effort was parried by the keeper and he followed the ball in to score from six yards.
Dunkineely then put on the pressure and equalised after 64 minutes and took the lead on 70 minutes when a Dunkineely player fired an unstoppable shot past the Copany Keeper.
Mark McCrea scored the second Copany goal on 76 minutes when he smartly lobbed the keeper with a first time shot, but Dunkineely sealed the win with Andrew Mackey's late goal following a bit of hesitation by the Copany keeper.
