Match Report
A fine bullet header from Niall Boyle shared the spoils in Copanys latest pre-season outing against Donegal Town.

Copany again showed admirable resistance to the challenge of higher-league opposition, playing some fine football, especially in the 2nd half.

The game was slow to spark into life, with both midfields cancelling each other out, and with both defenses on top, Ballyshannon native Gary Ward, who has joined the Copany side again this season, had a quiet first 20 minutes in the Copany goals.

The ever lively David Graham continued his sparkling pre-season form for the Laghey men in this encounter, and he spurned two great first half opportunities for the hosts when well placed on his usually trusty left boot.

It was the Donegal men who went in front at the stroke of half time, however. The impressive Paddy Ward scoring a fine individual goal following some hesitant Copany defending from a long ball.

And it was Ward who eluded his namesake in the Copany goals 10 minutes into the second half, latching onto flick on from another long clearance and finishing expertly into the corner of the net.

Copany upped their game in the second half, matching their workrate in the first half, but making better use of ball retention, with Glen Duncan, Alan McGirr and Paul Patton winning the midfield battle, giving the impressive trio of David Graham, Paul Clarke and Colin Mulhern more ball and options in the final third.

David Graham pulled one back for Copany, when he glanced home a driven effort by Alan McGirr.

Copany found their equaliser from more good build up play involving several neat quick passes down the right hand flank. Paul Clarke got to the byline and sent an inch perfect cross, which was met by the head of Niall Boyle, whos bullet header pinged the top corner for a superb Copany goal.

Donegal went three up top as they searched for the winner, with the hosts tiring, but failed to break down the Copany rearguard for a third time and so the game finished evens.

Another good workout for the Cobras, next up is a friendly against Letterbarrow next Tuesday night in Copany
