Match Report
John Joe McAteer and his Kerrykeel troops got their 40th Donegal League campaign of to a bright start with a deserved 3-1 win over Copany at Killowen Park.

The Fanad men started the brighter and looked dangerous on set pieces with their height advantage giving them superiority from the dead balls.

However, Copany took the lead with their first notable chance, when Paul Clarkes throw in was flicked on by Aaron Scott, and David Graham pounced to slot the ball past the keeper on 22 minutes.

Copany started the second half well, and David Graham was unlucky not to double his tally after slicing the ball wide when inside the box following another throw-in routine.

Paul Clarke set off on a surging run on 56 minutes, but after ghosting past two defenders, his final touch past the 'keeper was a bit heavy and the chance was lost.

Kerrykeel got back into the match on 60 minutes, when Niall Doherty slotted home from the spot after Kerrykeel were awarded a rather dubious penalty.

Momentum had swung Kerrykeels way at this stage, and they went 2-1 up on 72 minutes when Johnny Friel fired home expertly following some sloppy defending by the home side.

Johnny Friel wrapped up the points with his second for John Joes men on 81 minutes, when he lifted the ball over the stranded 'keeper from long range following more poor defending by Copany.

Darren Kilpatrick was best for the hosts, a good team performance by Kerrykeel.
