A dominant first half display by the visitors saw promotion favourites Rathmullan secure a six goal victory over a lethargic Copany side.

A dominant first half display by the visitors saw promotion favourites Rathmullan secure a six goal victory over a lethargic Copany side.

Eamon Sheridan opened the scoring when he was ruled onside after a through ball, and slotted past the keeper on 7 minutes. Kevin McCarry doubled their advantage on 15 minutes when he met a cross from the right and headed into the far corner of the net. Patrick Sheridan and Darragh Patton made it three and four before centre half Shaun Patton got his name on the scoreboard before half time with a header from a corner to leave the now rampant visitors leading by five a the interval.

Copany at least showed a bit of fight in the second half, but Rathmullan were not quite finished as Eamon Sheridan grabbed his second on 64 minutes following a neat move by the visitors. The same player missed his chance for a hattrick when he saw his penalty saved well by Gary Ward. Copany pushed hard for a consolation with David Graham getting into more dangerous positions, but in the end the visitors were well worthy of the winning margin with Darragh Patton and Eamon Sheridan providing a cutting edge in a good overall display.
