The local derby was played in poor weather conditions under the floodlights in Ballyshannon on Friday night, where honours were shared after a competitive encounter which was rather lacking in quality. Despite not reaching the level of performance of their recent encounters, the Cobras showed good heart to twice fight back from behind - and take their unbeaten tally to an impressive seven games. With the aid of a stiff breeze, Letterbarrow had much the better chances of the first half thanks to a very direct game that troubled the usually solid Copany defence, and went ahead on 20 minutes when James McGroary pinged the bottom corner of a net with a well taken left footed free kick. Copany equalised on 26 minutes when Paul Clarke got on the end of a neat through ball from Raymond Forde, and dispatched the ball expertly under the keeper to level proceedings. Letterbarrow restored their single goal advantage on 30 minutes when a corner kick was cleverly taken too quickly for the Copany defence to organise, and ended up being turned into his own net by the unfortunate Aaron Scott. Letterbarrow continued to trouble Copany with set pieces being a big source of danger - Des McGroary unfortunate to not have his name on the scoresheet before half time - going close with a couple of free kicks. The second half was very different with Copany having the upper hand as the visitors tired, but struggled to find any rhythm to seriously test the visiting keeper until a looping ball into the box was spilled into the path of David Graham who stabbed the ball into the net on 64 minutes for Copanys equaliser. Copany pushed hard to try to open the Letterbarrow defence as they searched for the winner, with Letterbarrow looking to hit on the counter attack with their continued direct attacks but neither goal was breached further meaning a draw, which was a fair reflection on proceedings in the end. Credit to the lads attitute for twice fighting back from going behind, despite not being near their best. Best of luck to Daryl Duncan and Raymond Forde on their travels to Australia.
