Copany got their Milford Inn Division 1 league campaign off to a positive start with a draw away to Castlefin Celtic in baking conditions in Castlefin. Castlefin were first to settle in this game, and they created a couple of very good chances in the opening 15 minutes, the closest was an effort from the edge of the box which hit the inside of the post and away to safety. Gradually, The Cobras began to settle, and on 36 minutes a surging run and pinpoint cross by Paul Clarke found debutant Dara Brogan well placed inside the Castlefin box. However, Brogan was unable to test the 'keeper with his header. The stop/start nature of this game meant the football was not freeflowing from either side, despite the splendid conditions. However, both sides could not be faulted for lack of effort, and ultimately they were to cancel each other out over the ninety minutes. Copany had a great opportunity to seal the points five minutes from time, when firstly David Graham saw his goalbound effort cleared off the line, and Aaron Scott's follow up was expertly saved by the Castlefin stopper. A draw a fair reflection for both teams efforts. A strong team effort by Copany, with Gary Ward, Gary McCafferty, Aaron Scott and Daryl Duncan all excelling.
