Lagan Harps 7-0 Copany Rovers Venue: Orchard Park
Lagan started well and John Gallagher went close with a header after five minutes. Lagan had a series of early attacks but couldn’t find the breakthrough. Copany almost snatched the lead on fifteen minutes when Lagan gave away the ball in midfield and Ryan Kerrigan broke through. Although his shot went past Tony Blake Seamie Peoples did superbly to get back and make a goal line clearance. Paul Rodgers then had a header cleared off the line as Lagan pressed. Ryan Kerrigan then set off on a great run for Copany but there was no one on hand to finish as his shot flashed across the area. Lagan took the lead on thirty five minutes when Kevin Kelly’s thunderous drive from wide on the right was pushed out and John Gallagher headed home. Chris Toner made it two a minute later when he broke through and lobbed the keeper. Lagan wrapped up the game on forty seven minutes when Paul Rodgers scored with a free kick. Aidan O’Donnell grabbed Lagan’s fourth on fifty five minutes when he finished well from the edge of the area. Copany battled away but Lagan with the introduction of Glen Gallagher and Keith Malseed were now rampant. Chris Toner set up Glen Gallagher for Lagan’s fifth before scoring his second and Lagan’s sixth on sixty five minutes. Glen Gallagher the scored the goal of the match with a cracking drive from thirty yards on seventy minutes. Lagan’s best on the day were Chris Toner and Seamie Peoples with Darragh Bryan and Ryan Kerrigan Copany’s best. Despite the heavy defeat Copany showed promise for next season with some fine young players on display. Referee was Paddy Duffy. |
