Cobras gaffer Russell Gorman is reportedly back in the hunt for Rafael Van der Vaart, with the Holland playmaker appearing keen to make his mark on the big stage after Spurs missed out on a place in the UEFA Champions League.

The Dutchman proved an instant hit with the White Hart Lane faithful after a £7 million switch from Spanish giants Real Madrid, but with Spurs finishing outside the top-four, Van der Vaart appears keen to test himself on the biggest stages.

Van der Vaart is quoted as saying: "Every player dreams of appearing in the biggest competitions with the best players, such as the Champions League, the C.T. Ball Division, or maybe even the Brian McCormick Sports Cup. It would be a dream to play in the Donegal Area Shield of that cup with David Graham if he decides to turn up", indicating a stong desire to play for the Cobras.

With Russell looking to build his attacking option, it appears Van der Vaart would fit into his strategy of providing a link between midfield and attack.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp also appears keen to cash in on one of his prized assets, saying: "I'm a wheeler-dealer, i'm not a farking football manager, innit. I don't need Van der Vaart; I know Inter are interested, but he's got an eye on a move to Ireland, I think. Anway, I've lined up the boy Taarabt, he's a player. Be a tough sell to get QPR to do business for him now they're in the Premiership, and to be fair, only a muppet would sell him. But it is Neil Warnock so you gotta be hopeful."
