A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM LIAM MCGIRR

Dick Turpin? Jonah? Al Capone? They aint got a patch on the notorious Copany Rovers ball thief - Liam McGirr

A disapointing opening day defeat at the hands of Kerrykeel dampened the mood around Killowen Park, but the drama was only unfolding soon after the referee blew his whistle bringing the games proceedings to a halt.

For a number of weeks a few match balls seemingly disappeared into thin air, although it's been rumoured that Paul Clarke had a few target practice shots before the match against Drumbar which would explain that particular anomaly.

However, a cunning (or so he thought) Liam McGirr decided he fancied the look of one of the training balls, and quietly put it into his match bag.

The Club Chairman, Brian Kilpatrick, seething, caught him in the act, and proceeded to inform club captain Aaron Scott.

As Russell Gorman and Paul Clarke can often testify, Scotty is one person not to f*ck with at this present moment in time. The newly tagged 'Angry Aaron' was reportedly so incensed, he allegedly chased after Liam with said training ball, blasting it after him time and time again up the Leghowney road in a manner whereby he received the ball back off Liams unfortunate head. (begs the question, where does this magical precision go at 2PM on Sunday afternoons! :P)

In the dressing room before the Raphoe Game, a public apology was read out on Liams behalf by King Cobra himself, Russell Gorman. Full apology listed below:

King Cobra and Cobraites,

I wish to apologise for my actions last Sunday. It was very uncobralike and it will not happen again.

I will purchase a new ball on 20th September and I want everyone to know that I never took a match ball.

You'se are all a great bunch of lads and I don't want to fall out with youse.

Up da Cobras

Liam McGirr.
