Copany Rovers next league match against Cappry Rovers has been moved to Saturday 7th March, with a 7:30PM kickoff under the floodlights at Cappry Park. The match was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday 8th March at 2:00PM. The match is of real importance to both sides. A win for Cappry would secure the C.T. Ball Division 2 title, while a win for Copany would put pressure on the likes of Letterbarrow and Glenree United for the second automatic promotion place. The last time Copany played a match under floodlights was against the same opposition in a pre-season friendly in 2006, where Stephen Johnston was an assistant to James Given. Now joint-manager along with Russell Gorman, Stephen recalls an interesting story from that 2006 encounter: "We'd named our team in the dressing room before kick-off and then we realised someone was missing. Francie Johnston was nowhere to be seen, despite being in the dressing room 10 minutes earlier. We hastily made a replacement, and took to the field, and we were in shock to see Francie lined up in the Cappry rig ready to play against us - as they were a player short. He hadn't even mentioned it to us!" The Copany management team will be hoping that Francie - with four goals in his last five outings for Copany - won't be making a similar defection five minutes ahead of the kickoff on Saturday night! Here's hoping for an exciting game of football... |
